So I feel a little weird posting about a sweater, jeans, and boots in April. But we have a never-ending winter going on here on Kansas City, so I’m sharing some never-ending winter fashion. I really, really, REALLY hope the weather warms up soon…. until then, enjoy this brown sweater and ripped denim look. And some hot chocolate. And some fires in the fireplace. Can you tell I’m trying really hard to make the best of this never-ending cold?

As to the hot chocolate… if I’m honest, we ran out of milk a couple days ago and I can’t even make any hot chocolate. Colton has this thing where he says he gets hot chocolate any time he plays in the snow. Well, it snowed yesterday, but I wasn’t able to make hot chocolate afterwards, since we were out of milk. I had one very upset little boy on my hands. Sorry man, I didn’t know I had to be prepared for snow IN APRIL.
On another note, I’ve had some questions as to why my initial pendant has a C on it when my name, well, doesn’t start with C. I wear this pendant all the time, so it’s a fair question.
And the answer is that it was my push present from Colton’s birth! Although I didn’t actually push, as I ended up with a [probably unnecessary] c-section due to “failure to progress.” AKA failure to wait.
Sorry to hop on my birth soapbox there, but April is Cesarean Awareness Month so it’s been on my mind quite a bit lately. About one in three births in America is a c-section, so chances are very good that you or someone very close to you has experienced a cesarean birth. And as a c-section and VBAC mama, let me say this: c-section moms DEFINITELY deserve push presents. My c-section recovery was 1000x worse than my VBAC recovery.
I’m very passionate about VBAC access and education. If you’re considering a VBAC and want some resources or just to chat, feel free to reach out any time. Just know that I’m not a birth professional, just a mom like you!
Back to push presents… I know they have a bit of a bad rap in some parts of the country, but to me, it’s one of those “to each their own” things. As for me, I got a push present for Colton, but I actually didn’t have one for Blair’s birth. Instead, we decided to spend the money on a nice Big Brother Gift for Colton.
And let me tell you, that gift has come in handy over these past several COLD months. It is hard work entertaining kids indoors. It’s also hard trying to stretch your winter wardrobe through until April.
