So I was trying to keep up with weekend recaps starting on Memorial Day weekend. Then I promptly missed the next weekend–facepalm. I love sharing these little snapshots of our lives with you, though! A highlight of my weekend was testing out our new stroller, so I’m including a Chicco BravoFor2 Double Stroller Review, too!
On Friday, the kiddos and I kicked off the weekend early by joining Grandma for dinner at a new-to-us Mexican restaurant, Chuy’s. Honestly, it was a little too Tex-Mex for me, but I still enjoyed plenty of chips and salsa!

Colton loved that the chips and salsa were served out of the back of a car. Of course, he had to “sample” some chips for me before we made it back to the table.
We randomly drove past a carnival at a local church on the way home, so we stopped off for some quick bounce house fun. It’s basically illegal to drive past a bounce house with a 3-year-old and not stop.
On Saturday, my husband took the kids for donuts so I could get ready in the morning. As you can see, Colton was also kind enough to “sample” the donuts for us. 🙂
My husband is really great about letting me “get ready” on the weekends. I actually enjoy doing my hair and makeup, but don’t always have the time during the week with 2 little ones running around. He does a great job of entertaining them so I can have some “me time.”
After a leisurely morning, Blair went down for nap around noon. I made some tacos for lunch [told you I like Mexican food!], but the shells were super weird and no one liked them. Another cooking fail.
Every time I cook, I end up saying, “this is why I don’t cook!” as I stand over another failed dish.
After we ate, the kids helped me assemble our new double stroller, the Chicco BravoFor2. I’ve made do without a double stroller for almost a year now, mainly because I was concerned they would be too bulky. After putting this one together, the first thing I said to my husband was that my only regret is that I didn’t get it sooner.
Hubs earned some serious husband points by watching the kids so I could get my nails done and go tanning in the afternoon. [My new car! Love!]
Blair went down for bed at 6:45, which is early for her. I sat and snuggled her for like 30 minutes afterwards. She doesn’t usually fall asleep in my arms anymore, so I wanted to enjoy the time with just us. She’s closing in on 1 now, and I don’t know how much longer our nursing journey will last.
After I got Blair to sleep, I joined the boys outside. Then, I came in for some online shopping and picked up this cute PJ set for Colton. It seems like my kids always need jammies. Or maybe I just need to do more laundry.

On Sunday, hubs and I did some work in the morning while the kids played. Colton is at an age where he can entertain himself some, which is super helpful. Blair is young enough to still take a morning nap–also helpful.

Lunch was leftover spaghetti I had frozen awhile back and forgot about, then randomly tossed in the fridge. We all love spaghetti around here!
After lunch, I was excited to head to a local Strawberry Festival to test out our Chicco BravoFor2 double stroller. And guys, this thing is awesome. Blair has the front seat with canopy, and Colton has two options in the back–sitting or standing.
What’s a strawberry festival without strawberry shortcake?
And shaved ice? My husband and I both had blue raspberry, and Colton had like 5 flavors mixed together. Oddly enough, his tasted better.
Having this double stroller was a real lifesaver. Normally, my preschooler starts whining about his legs being tired and I end up trying to carry him and push a stroller simultaneously. Or him and Blair take turns in the stroller. It was so nice to be able to tell him to hop on while we moved from one activity to the other.
Not only that, but this tandem double stroller folds up easily and is as compact in my cargo area as our old single stroller.
Blair has quite the little attitude. We always say that she’ll be a fun teenager. [Also pictured: a very, very tired 3-year-old who doesn’t think he needs to nap, even though he desperately needs to nap.]
The police, fire, and ambulance were at the strawberry festival. Colton was all smiles in the back of the cop car. I overheard about 25 parents make the joke, “this better be the only time you ride back there!” #dadjoke
