‘Tis the season to start thinking about your dance teacher gift ideas! Lately, my TikTok videos and Instagram Reels about dance mom life have been blowing up, so I wanted to share some dance teacher gifts on the blog, too. Here are some of the best dance teacher gifts you can buy, and the best part is, most of them are available on Amazon!

Can you believe we’re less than 2 weeks away from Christmas? Blair did this adorable Christmas photoshoot with Joslyn Renee Photography last year and the photos turned out so well. Joslyn is an amazing dance photographer–I highly recommend her if you’re looking for a dance photographer in Kansas City. I really wanted Blair to be able to take Christmas photos with her again this year, but the timing just didn’t work out for us. Hopefully we can shoot together again in 2024!
For this post, I wanted to find dance teacher gifts that teachers actually want. A lot of the items that come up when you search “dance teacher gifts” are, well, pretty corny. I don’t like to give gifts that aren’t going to be used and I definitely don’t want anyone feeling obligated to find a place in their home for something they don’t really want. So, to research this post, I read a lot of social media posts from dance teachers about what gifts they really want–and what they really don’t want. Of course, no gift is one size fits all, but these are some of the most popular ideas that came up again and again.
The Best Dance Teacher Gifts
Based on my research, here are some of the most popular dance teacher gifts that teachers really want!
Gifts that dance teachers can use at competitions seem to be very popular: items like Bluetooth speakers (to run dances during warm up), external phone batteries, and portable phone chargers can come quite handy on long competition days. Similarly, there were requests for gift cards for Doordash (to get food delivered to the competition) and Starbucks (hello, caffeine!) to make it through comp days.
In addition to items useful at competitions, several dance teachers and studio owners wanted to see items that could be used at the studio. Supplying a backup stash of bobby pins, hair ties, hair spray, and the like may not seem very exciting, but it’s nice for the teachers to have those items on hand rather than having to spend their own money to provide back ups for students who inevitably forget. A studio First Aid kit is another nice-to-have-on-hand item.
Every dance teacher has choreography to work out, and a nice notebook like this one is perfect for them to jot down notes and formations.
Of course, dance teachers also love the same trendy stuff as everyone else! Stanleys, belt bags, and cozy blankets are on almost everyone’s wish list, including the teachers.
Finally, a common theme from so many dance teachers is the love they have for a handmade card, handwritten note, drawing, etc. from a student. Just hearing that your work is making a difference and that they love coming to dance is so important!
Gift Cards for Dance Teachers
Of course, gift cards were one of the most popular dance teacher gift ideas. The most commonly-requested retailers were Doordash, Amazon, and self-care gift cards (massage, mani/pedi, etc.).
Dance Teacher Gifts To (Maybe) Avoid
A few words of caution regarding some common dance teacher gifts: coffee and alcohol are some of the most common gifts, however, consider whether you know if your dance teacher partakes in either. Similarly, be cautious about unknown allergies if gifting food, and consider a possible sensitivity if gifting scented candles and the like. You want to make sure the recipient will love and appreciate your gift!
